Abstract

Research aimed was to determine the venturi aerator system design to produce Microbubble, to determine the dissolved oxygen level produced by the venturi aerator system configuration, to determine the Nitrite (NO2) concentration in pond cultures. The research was conducted on September - November 2019 in Aquaculture experimental ponds of East Kutai Agriculture College (STIPER) by using an experimental design, water quality tests, and data analysis tests methods. The research results are the venturi aerator system that has been made it’s has a dimensions i.e inlet water flow diameter 19 mm, venturi inner nozzle hole diameter 18 mm by a semicircle shape, venturi nozzle water outflow diameter 3 mm, air flow pipe diameter 12 mm for entry process of air, for inside microbubble outlet diameter 8 mm by conical shape and for the outside 14 mm. Dissolved oxygen levels produced by the venturi aerator system configuration in experimental ponds ranged between 3.8 mg/l up to 6.3 mg/l, this concentration level was adequate for growth of shrimp or fish. Nitrite (NO2) concentration in experimental ponds using filtration system filter were in the range between 0.05 mg/l up to 0.09 mg/l, this concentration adequate an optimum requirement for nitrite concentration for growth of shrimp and fish, i.e  1 mg/l. Venturi aerator system that has been made is suitable for use for O2 Enrichment and reduce NO2 concentrations in tiger prawn pond cultures.
