Abstract

The various types of packaged rice offered by traders to consumers do not affect consumers to continue to buy rice directly from local farmers. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the demand for local rice. This research was conducted from April to June 2021 in Mukti Jaya Village, Rantau Pulung District, East Kutai Regency. Sampling for farmers using judgment sampling method and sampling for consumers using snowball sampling method. The analytical method used in this study is statistical analysis to see the effect of rice prices, income and consumer tastes on demand whose calculations are calculated using the SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solution) tool. The results of partially testing the hypothesis that consumer income has a significant effect on demand is obtained by the value of t count = 4.080 and the value of t table = 2.003 or t count > t table with probability values (0.000 < 0.05) and simultaneous testing shows that rice prices, income and consumer tastes have a significant effect on demand with a comparison of the calculated F value = 6.010 and F table = 2.76 or F arithmetic > F table with a significant value of 0.01 < 0.05. Therefore, consumer income affects demand, while prices and consumer tastes do not affect demand and simultaneously prices, income and consumer tastes affect demand.
